Music video
This project was a creative collaboration between myself and a local music artist.
I decided right off the bat in this project that I wanted to create every element from scratch. I used no stock video, no stock textures, graphics, overlays, etc. Every glitch, every lens leak, flare, flash of light was shot or created by me.
I primarily shot 4k video, at 24 frames per second, with my vintage Helios 44-5 film lens for a cinematic look. I shot video of ink in a fish tank, video of my analog cameras spinning on a spin-plate, I even shot some low res 480i video on a very old camera of mine, because I knew we were going for a glitchy look. I thought mixing clean, high-res video with glitchy elements, and low-res video would make an interesting look.
90% of the shots were specifically for this video, for the rest I used video I’d shot previously which had never been used for anything.
We had three primary shoots: an indoor close-up and handheld session, a studio environment, and shots of my analog cameras and additional elements.
I combined that with animated typography and abstract video elements I captured.
